The awardees can run their experiment either through an nCounter® Analysis System available at their institution or at an appropriate NanoString service provider. NanoString will provide the reagents and, upon request, a basic Data Analysis Service to analyze the NanoString output from the experiment in the form of a report that includes the raw data and detailed analysis with figures and commentary.

In order to be eligible for this grant of a free gene expression panel, applicants must be located in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, or Asia Pacific and be enrolled/employed at an academic institution or employed at a research facility in a capacity in which they are able to perform research and have the capability to collect human research samples under the jurisdiction of an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or the local equivalent as well as to run their project as described in the submitted abstract. NanoString Technologies, Inc. is the sponsor of this grant content. No purchase is necessary to apply. The grant winners must be age 18 or older. Members of the immediate families of NanoString employees and directors, and persons living in the same household as such persons, are ineligible for this grant. This grant contest is void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. The grant winners or the winner’s applicable institution is responsible for any tax liability incurred by accepting the reagents as well as reporting the award in cases where the winners are a licensed physician. Grant applicants acknowledge that the gene expression panel reagents can only be run on the NanoString nCounter Analysis System. NanoString does not provide an nCounter system in connection with the grant, but will offer assistance to the winners in accessing an instrument. All grant submissions are confidential to the individual submitter and will not be published or distributed. Upon project completion, each grant winners agrees to participate at least in one of the following activities relating to the specific project, with specific details of the applicable activity to be mutually agreed upon in good faith between NanoString and each winner: webinar, case study, blog post, and/or poster presentation. Each winner agrees that NanoString shall have the right to use anonymized data from the winner's project in application notes or marketing literature. By applying for the grant, each applicant agrees to these terms and conditions and that NanoString may process the personal data he or she provides in accordance with NanoString’s privacy policies available at If any approval or consent for sample collection for the applicable research is required in the jurisdiction where a researcher is based, such researcher is responsible for obtaining such approval or consent. This is not a “cash in hand” grant and the grant winners have no option to receive any cash payment or alternative award in lieu of receiving a gene expression panel.
