As the pioneer in the field of spatial biology, NanoString enables scientists across the globe to envision molecular interactions in three dimensions with three different systems, the nCounter® Analysis System, the GeoMx® Digital Spatial Profiler (DSP) and the Spatial Molecular Imager (SMI) platform (slated to launch in 2022). As a result, scientists can see the multi-omic expression of genes and proteins in the natural context of tissue structure.
Since our founding in 2003, we have earned a reputation as a respected, trusted pioneer of innovative technologies that support our customers in their relentless pursuit of answers. Our products are based on a novel digital molecular barcoding technology invented at the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) in Seattle under the direction of Dr. Leroy Hood.
In 2008, we launched the nCounter Analysis System and began international sales operations with its first multiplexed assays for gene expression analysis. Since commercial launch, the nCounter platform has been cited in more than 4,600 peer-reviewed publications.
Our first spatial platform, GeoMx DSP, was launched in 2019, enabling highly multiplexed spatial profiling of RNA and protein targets in various sample types, including challenging Formalin-Fixed, Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) tissue. The unique combination of high-plex and high-throughput spatial profiling allows researchers to rapidly and quantitatively assess the biological implications of heterogeneity within tissues and has resulted in over 60 peer-reviewed publications to date.
Continued investment in innovation has produced a robust product pipeline including the Spatial Molecular Imager that will provide highly sensitive, sub-cellular imaging of hundreds to thousands of RNAs or proteins directly from single cells within morphologically intact tissue samples. This new platform complements the high-plex, high throughput GeoMx DSP and together, these platforms will span the continuum of spatial biology applications and will serve the needs of both discovery and translational researchers.
