Easy Access to Comprehensive Gene Lists
The nCounter Virtual Gene Sets are comprehensive lists of genes for the study of genetic pathways, disease states and biological processes. Scientists at NanoString have developed a system to select genes with known changes in expression levels in different biological processes and pathways.
Genes included in the nCounter Virtual Gene Sets are selected based on empirical data obtained from public databases. These databases include, but are not limited to, MSigDB which was developed by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Broad Institute, Inc.*, combined with tools and content from Ingenuity Systems, Inc. This methodology ensures that the genes contained in the nCounter Virtual Gene Sets will generate meaningful results in gene expression profiling experiments.
