Coming Soon: Human miRNA Transcriptome CodeSet!

Micro RNAs (miRNAs) are small, single-stranded, non-coding RNA molecules that have generated intense interest in the scientific community for their roles in tumor formation and other biological processes. NanoString is developing a unique new product for miRNA analysis: a single-tube, multiplexed assay for profiling the human miRNA transcriptome and related viral miRNAs using the nCounter Analysis System.

The nCounter miRNA CodeSet contains more than 700 miRNAs from the latest version of miRBase and is easily amenable to the addition of new miRNAs as they are added to the database. With only 100ng of total RNA, the nCounter CodeSet for miRNA analysis provides a sensitive, accurate and cost-effective digital profiling solution capable of discriminating between miRNAs at single-base resolution. Stay tuned for more details.

New nCounter Virtual Gene Sets

nCounter Virtual Gene Sets accelerate research by offering CodeSets with pre-selected genes and pre-designed probes. Virtual Gene Sets are made-to-order and since probes are in inventory, CodeSets can be rapidly assembled and delivered. For a complete list of available Virtual Panels Read More

Functional Cis-regulatory Genomics for Systems Biology

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A, February 2010

Researchers at the California Institute of Technology used the nCounter Analysis System to study the functional linkages of gene regulatory networks using the sea urchin as a model organism. They present a high-throughput approach to both discovery and quantitative characterization of cis-regulatory modules that increased the rate of cis-regulatory analysis by >100-fold compared with conventional one-by-one reporter assays. The authors write that this approach will qualitatively alter the practice of gene regulatory network construction as well as validation, and will impact many additional areas of regulatory system biology. Nuclear Entry of Activated MAPK Is Restricted in Primary Ovarian and Mammary Epithelial Cells

PloS One, February 2010

Researchers from the University of Miami and Fox Chase Cancer Center used the nCounter Analysis System in combination with other methods to find that in primary cultures of breast and ovarian epithelial cells, phosphorylation and activation of ERK1/2 are disassociated from nuclear translocalization and transcription of downstream targets, such as c-Fos, suggesting that nuclear translocation is limited in primary cells.
